RESNET HERS Rater Certification (Course and Test)
July 12 through July 17
This training familiarizes participants with the process and sci ence of conducting an energy rating, and prepares students to successfully pass the HERS certification test and perform ratings of newly built houses. Taking a “whole-house” approach, this course focuses on energy and moisture transfer, the thermal envelope, air leakage problems and solutions, ventilation and indoor air quality, windows, as well as basic energy load calculations, and diagnostic testing using a blower door, infrared thermography, and a duct blaster.
On the last day of the class, students take a written exam and (with a passing grade) apply for certification with an accredited Home Energy Rating System (HERS) provider. Cost: $1575 per person
includes all materials and testing.

- EPA Renovate, Repair and Paint – Lead Paint Safety Certification
Tuesday, July 20 (one day only)
Course Description: On April 22, 2010, the EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule went into effect. This rule states that any contractor working on projects in pre-1978 housing must hold a Lead Paint Certification. This one day class includes comprehensive classroom instruction on safe work practices, recordkeeping, hands-on practice on materials handling and removal procedures, and the written test for Section 402 (c) (3) Certification. Cost: $260 per person included all materials and testing.

- BPI Building Analyst (BA-1) (course and test)
July 26 – 30
Course Description: This “Must Have” certification is the recognized national standard for contractors engaged in energy-related improvements and Energy Auditing, such as HVAC, weatherization and renewable energy. This week-long class includes classroom instruction, field testing, and both the written and In-House Field Test certification tests. Topics in the classroom training include principles of energy and building science, building shell and thermal envelope, building systems such as HVAC, domestic hot water, lighting, appliances and blower door testing. This five day course includes comprehensive classroom instruction, hands-on field study in a residential home and both written and (upon passing written test) the In-Home Field Test. Fee: $1975 per person includes all materials, on-site and field testing.
